VYBE BPI SCAM ALERT
🚨 WARNING: VYBE BPI App Scam Alert! 🚨
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a recent experience I had to raise awareness about a scam that’s been making the rounds. Please read and share to keep your friends and family safe!
This morning, I received a call from someone claiming to be from BPI. Here’s a breakdown of the call and the red flags to watch out for:
Caller Claiming to be from BPI: The caller introduced himself as a BPI representative (Red flag #1).
Promoting VYBE App and Rewards Points: He talked about the VYBE app and mentioned rewards points I supposedly hadn’t redeemed from my BPI credit card (Red flag #2 - I don’t have a BPI credit card).
False Sense of Security: He kept insisting that BPI never asks for personal info over the phone, trying to sound legitimate.
Supervisor Tactics: He transferred me to his "supervisor," who then asked for my personal information, like my birthday. When I refused, she threatened that my account would be on hold for 45-60 days by the fraud department (Red flag #3).
Standing Firm: I told her that I’d rather visit the branch personally and that their scare tactics wouldn’t work on me.
Key Takeaways: - BPI Will Not Initiate Calls: BPI does not call customers out of the blue. If you receive such a call, it's likely a scam. - No BPI Peso Rewards System: There’s no such thing as a BPI Peso Rewards system. Any mention of this is a clear indicator of a scam.
Stay Safe: - Do Not Share Personal Information: Never give out your personal information over the phone to unsolicited callers. - Verify Directly with BPI: If you’re ever in doubt, hang up and call BPI directly using their official contact numbers. - Report Suspicious Calls: Let BPI know about any suspicious calls to help protect others.
Please stay vigilant and spread the word. Let’s help each other stay safe from these scams!
