Reverse parking is virtually always irrational
I don't understand why people back park when they don't have to.
Using basic logic, it is irrational in virtually every case.
This is because the difficulty from back parking will always more than negate any gains made from a front exit. When you back park into the spot, you have to be careful because you have to fit your vehicle exactly into the spot, which will always be more difficult than pulling into the spot initially going forward. Yet if you initially pulled forward into the parking spot, then you are exiting the spot, it doesn't matter how you reverse, you have plenty of room to reverse out.
So when we examine the net (combined initial parking + existing the spot) difficulty/effort, initially back parking into the spot will always result in more net difficulty/effort.
